Himesh Reshammiya is an Indian playback singer, music director, songwriter, producer, and actor who is best known for his work as the music director of several popular Bollywood films such as Humraaz (2002), Tere Naam (2003), Aitraaz (2004), Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), Aksar (2006), Aap Kaa Surroor (2007), Bodyguard (2007), Kick (2014), and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). He has also performed as a playback singer in most of these films and had become a sort of a cult superstar in the mid and late 2000s with his heavy nasal crooning of chart-busting songs such as Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), Jhalak Dikhlaja (2006), Aashiqui Me Teri (2006), Tera Mera Milna (2007), Tandoori Nights (2008), and Hookah Bar (2012). In the latter half of his career, he had tried his hand at acting with films such as Aap Kaa Surroor (2007), Karzzzz (2008), Radio (2009), Khiladi 786 (2012), The Xposé (2014), and Teraa Surroor (2016). From 2012 onwards, he had also produced most of the films that he has acted in.

  • Before kick-starting his career as a music director in Bollywood, Himesh used to produce TV series such as Andaz, Ahha, Aman, and Amar Prem for Zee TV. He had also composed title tracks for some of these shows.
  • His father, also a music director, was supposed to work on a film with actor Salman Khan in the 1990s. However, the film never got made and Salman then promised him that he would give a chance to his son Himesh. Thus, started his career as a music director, with the film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) for which he composed 2 songs.
  • He has also been heavily involved in the judging panels on numerous singing-based competitive reality TV shows such as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge, Sur Kshetra, The Voice India, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs, The Voice India Kids, Superstar Singer, and Indian Idol.
